Ministries of Church of Our Father

Holy Eucharist
The Holy Eucharist is the "source and summit" of Christian life at Church of Our Father. We actively engage in remembering and re-presenting the sacrifice of Jesus Christ in the celebration of the Eucharist twice a week, and our participation brings us into the Divine Presence and into deeper communion with each other.
-
Wednesday Community Offering
Each month, our Wednesday fellowship group identifies a community non-profit to learn more about. At the end of the month, we hand deliver a donation and a card letting them know how much Church of Our Father appreciates the difference they make in our community. See Doris Walton.
-
Friendship & Fellowship
Whether or not you are able to attend services, we are thinking of and praying for you. Church of Our Father maintains an active list of friends we miss seeing regularly, so we can stay in touch by phone, email, text, visiting in person or on-line, or sending a card signed by all of us. See Jane Adams.
-
Men's Group
The Men’s Group meets the first Monday of every month for dinner and a speaker and welcomes all denominations. This active group also hosts events such as the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, holiday meals and more. We collect CLYNK bags to support their ministry. See Tony Sousa.
-
Prayer Shawl Ministry
Prayer shawls are knitted or crocheted by parishioners, with donated yarn, before being blessed and distributed to those who need the love and support of our community, such as those celebrating special events, friends in hospice, etc. See Barbara Linscott.
-
You Matter Cards
We are You Matter Ambassadors, part of a global initiative creating positive connections between and within communities and individuals. We place YOU MATTER cards where they will be found anonymously, reminding the person who finds them that they are important. See Lisa Walker.
-
Eucharistic Visits
The Eucharist deepens union with Christ and calls us into communion with one another. A Priest, a Deacon, our Pastoral Care Associate, and lay leaders are licensed to serve the Eucharist to those who are not able to worship with us in person. See Mike Bullard.
-
Partnership Outreach & Missions
Church of Our Father participates in the MDI Episcopal POM Committee, collaborating on projects such as Ukrainian refugee resettlement through the Hancock County Neighbor Support Team and raising funds for Maison de Naissance, a maternal health center in Haiti. See Marilyn Kitler.
-
Food Pantry Collection
When shopping for groceries, we remember our food insecure neighbors and purchase items to put in our food cart located in the sanctuary’s entry hall. Collections of food, cleaning supplies and personal care items are delivered weekly to the Bar Harbor Food Pantry. See Barbara Linscott.
-
Meals Ministry
Our parishioners include many caring, talented cooks and bakers! We gladly make and deliver meals for those who are grieving, have had surgery, are ill, or are new parents. See Carol Johnston.
-
Prayer Chain
“For where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am among them.” We believe in the healing power of prayer. If you would like a group of parishioners to pray for you or a loved one, for any reason, please contact Mary McEnroe.
-
ECW
The Episcopal Church Women meet regularly to make, write and send cards for birthdays and holidays, and identify ways to support the Church of Our Father community. See Mary McEnroe.
